Women Empowerment: Blanca Jurado
Meet Blanca Jurado
My name is Blanca Jurado. I am an instructor at Dallas College's School of Education and a PhD candidate. Education has always been my passion and calling.
From a young age, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. My journey began in the classroom, where I spent 10 years as a fourth and fifth-grade bilingual teacher. I then grew professionally into roles as an instructional coach and later as a bilingual specialist. I've been in education for 15 years, constantly evolving and learning.
What drives me is the joy of instilling knowledge in others, regardless of their age. I am a lifelong learner and find deep fulfillment in sharing that passion with my students. There's something magical about witnessing someone grasp a new concept or develop a skill they didn't have before.
Life has taught me valuable lessons about resilience. As a cancer survivor, I've learned to cherish every moment of this precious life. Time waits for no one, and this understanding has shaped how I approach my personal and professional journey. Each day is a gift that shouldn't be taken for granted.
When I face struggles, I always return to my "why" and revisit my goals. I've learned to set realistic, attainable objectives within reasonable timeframes to avoid feeling overwhelmed, and this approach has kept me motivated through challenging times.
Self-reflection is essential to my daily routine. I make time each day to reflect on my experiences, upcoming challenges, and ways to maintain balance and perform at my best. This practice grounds me and helps me stay focused on what truly matters.
While I'm always open to advice, I'm mindful of who's offering it and their intentions. One of the best pieces of wisdom came from my dad, who often said, "Don't worry about it." He didn't mean to dismiss legitimate concerns but rather to remind me that some things are beyond our control, and excessive worry only steals our joy. A friend also encouraged me to travel and explore the world, regardless of how insignificant a place might seem—advice I've happily followed.
If I could go back in time, I would tell my younger self that my past doesn't define who I am or who I'm becoming. This realization has been liberating.
For those just starting or struggling in their journey, I recommend setting attainable goals and acknowledging all accomplishments, no matter how small. Celebrate your victories along the way.
I want everyone to know that all lived experiences matter, no matter how insignificant they may seem. You have a heart and soul, and regardless of your challenges, you possess incredible resilience. With that strength, you can overcome almost anything.
I owe immense gratitude to my dad, who now watches over me from heaven. He never rejected my ideas and always supported my dreams and ambitions. I also owe immense gratitude to my family, who has always supported me, and my friends, who are my biggest cheerleaders.
Looking ahead, I envision completing my PhD and continuing to help others learn and grow academically. Education is not just my career—it's my purpose.

Women Empowerment: Jessica Lopez
Meet Jessica Lopez
Jessica Lopez is the co-owner of Regio Tax Service, a family owned tax business in the DFW area. Lopez has been in the tax business for 12 years.
I came into the business knowing nothing, but I did have the desire and drive, and knew that I wanted more out of life than just a 9 to 5.
I must thank my boyfriend who at the time was just a family friend. He is the one who introduced me into the business and saw something in me, that I did not see in myself. He inspired me and taught me so much, so thank you to Cesar Baylon.
On days that I struggle, I like to remind myself how blessed I am and how much God has given me. I have always been a person who has open to advice and knowledge from others. There are so many points of views, and someone else's input could really open your eyes and change everything for you.
If I could give anybody advice, I have to say just do it now and take advantage of the time. What I wish I knew sooner was to really work hard in my 20's and go full force because you have all that energy and time - so invest in yourself. That, and save money while you are young.
I want everyone to know that you can! No matter your situation, your status, your failures... you can. Keep going and you will achieve whatever it is that you desire. Do not let anything hold you back. Do not let anyone's opinions hold you back, just keep going. Hard work really does pay off.
In the future I see myself traveling more. Helping raise my grandchildren, and overall just being happy.

Women Empowerment: Sucel Ruiz
Meet Sucel Ruiz
A financial coach helps clients with money management skills such as spending habits, creating short and long-term goals, and making financial decisions. Credit coaches help with credit score improvement by many ways including discussing ways to improve credit scores and assisting clients reach their financial goals. Here is Sucel's story.
Hi, I’m Sucel Ruiz, but most people know me as Suzie! I’m a bilingual finance and credit coach, proud wife to my best friend, and a girl mom to two beautiful young ladies. As the owner of P&P Credit Services, my mission is deeply personal—I know firsthand what it’s like to grow up in a community where financial resources and education aren’t easily accessible. That’s why I’m passionate about empowering others with the knowledge, confidence, and tools they need to build wealth—especially through homeownership.
I've dedicated 11 years to the finance and credit coaching industry. It's been an incredible journey, filled with growth and learning. Five years ago, an unexpected opportunity arose when our founder retired.
This journey has truly been a blessing. It has pushed me to grow in ways I never thought possible and has allowed me to make a meaningful impact on the lives of my clients. And the best part is, I'm still learning every day!
I never set out to be a finance and credit coach—this opportunity actually found me. A former employer, who originally founded P&P Credit, invited me to be a part of it, and I knew it was the right move. After years in the corporate world, I was ready for something with more purpose, but I also wanted the flexibility to be present for my daughters in a way my mother couldn’t be for me.
Growing up, I watched her work tirelessly, leaving little time for school activities. I wanted to change that narrative. Now, through P&P Credit Services, I not only get to build a business that empowers my community but also create a life where family and success go hand in hand.
I’ve read the books, listened to the podcasts, and done the mentorship—but I realized the key is finding what feels right for *YOU*. The *Five Minute Journal* helped me focus on the best parts of my day, even when things felt heavy. On tough days, small intentional actions make all the difference—get up and get dressed, play that song that hypes you up, make your favorite drink, call a friend, or spend time with loved ones. Whatever fuels you, lean into it. And if it helps, write it down—because the more you see it, the more natural it becomes.
Self-reflection is key to growth. I take time to check in with myself, whether through journaling, prayer, or simply pausing to acknowledge how far I’ve come. It helps me stay grounded, realign with my goals, and keep moving forward with intention.
I believe there’s so much value in learning from others. I welcome advice from those I trust—mentors, peers, and people who have walked the path before me. At the same time, I filter what aligns with my values and journey because growth comes from both listening and trusting yourself.
I’ve received plenty of advice over the years, but ultimately, I’ve always prayed on it and made my own decisions. I’m grateful to my parents for instilling faith in me from a young age—it shaped the way I show up in the world. I haven’t always gotten everything right, but that foundation has guided me. Now, I’m so thankful to pass that same faith and strength on to my daughters.
"What is something you wish you knew sooner?"
Nothing is ever that serious—there’s always either a blessing or a lesson. Trust the process!
"Words of advice for someone who is staring off or struggling?"
Beliefs are everything—especially when you’re building something of your own. They’ll carry you through the hard days and help you recognize the right opportunities. It took a lot of inner work to get where I am today, and I’m so grateful for this journey. It has taught me resilience, self-love, and the power of giving myself grace.
Life is a beautiful gift from God—let’s live it in freedom, with purpose, confidence, and love!
Looking ahead, I see a future filled with impact, growth, and purpose. More than anything, I envision a life of freedom—rooted in faith, family, and fulfillment. While I may not know all the details, I trust that God is in control of my tomorrow, and I’m *excited* for all He has in store!
I have so many people to thank for shaping my journey. First and foremost, God—His guidance has led me every step of the way. My parents, for instilling faith in me. My mentors, like Karen Phieler and James Browne, who have poured wisdom into me. And of course, my incredible support system—my husband, my daughters, and the amazing women in my circle who uplift and inspire me daily. I wouldn’t be here without them!

Women Empowerment: Yvette Lane
"When I struggle, I remind myself that it’s only temporary and it is all up to me and my outlook on it. I tend to listen to soothing music and positive podcasts. I work on self-compassion and remind myself to be kind to myself. "
Do you allow others to give you advice?
Yes, I definitely allow others to give me advice. Learning from others is a highlight for me. There is always room for improvement. The phrase ‘steel sharpens steel’ is one of the best pieces of advice I’ve received. It signifies the idea that positive relationships with strong individuals can lead to personal development and growth.
What is something you wish you knew sooner?
If I would have known what I know now about construction, I
would’ve joined this industry many years ago. I have a passion for this
industry; it’s extremely rewarding.
Words of advice for someone who is starting off or struggling?
Keep on pushing and striving for success. You will definitely get
to where you want to be, but you have to work for it. If you fall, get back up
and keep on trying. Also, it’s never too late, no matter the age, the
background, or the upbringing. If others can, why can’t you?
What is something you want everyone to know?
It’s never too late to chase your dreams. Also, that the construction industry has endless possibilities and positions, and women are needed in it. We are resilient, strong, and have so much attention to detail. The construction industry would be soaring with success even more than it is.
What do you see for yourself in the future?
In the future, I see myself being a small business woman owner,
spending more time with the community. I want to make an even bigger impact in
women’s lives and show them that success is possible, no matter where they come
from.
Anyone you want to thank for helping you get where you are now?
I want to thank my husband and my children for the ultimate support. My husband is the greatest partner anyone can have. Also, I remind myself to thank myself for not giving up and for keeping moving forward. As women, we often are hard on ourselves. We have to be our biggest cheerleaders.
